The Bowery Mission

Homelessness is an on-going and prevalent issue, especially in a city as large as New York. Many individuals are unsure where to find any kind of assistance, let alone their next meal. The Bowery Mission was founded in 1879 for this very purpose, and has been providing aid to hungry and homeless New Yorkers ever since. The organization strives to provide compassionate care to men, women and children in need and relies on volunteers to help their fellow New Yorkers.

The Bowery Mission serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, supplying hundreds of meals each shift. The EP team dedicated one morning to help serve a hearty breakfast alongside staff and resident students. The morning began by assisting in the preparation of the meal, then serving with smiles and friendly banter. The morning concluded with clean up and helping prepare the kitchen for the next meal shift. It was a truly rewarding experience for our team and we hope to return soon to volunteer again in the future.
