EP Engineering helped Sons of Thunder expand their presence from their Murray Hill location to the Financial District by providing MEP design services in the ground floor retail space at 225 Pearl Street. The restaurant features a Hawaiian/Californian inspired cuisine
Challenges
- Design of electrostatic precipitator, kitchen exhaust, makeup air unit, and water source heat pump to be concealed above small confines of Prep Kitchen
- We had to design the MEP services for this space, while simultaneously coordinating with the building’s ongoing construction to ensure the required services were delivered to the space in the desired locations.
Achievements
- Coordinating (3) grease interceptors within kitchen and building cellar space to allow proper drainage and efficiently utilize space
- Providing code required minimum clearances between outside air and toilet/kitchen exhaust louvers and sidewall water heater direct-vents, while also maintaining clearances to operable windows on floors above.
