NJIT Solar Decathlon China 2017

EP Engineering is volunteering time to assist the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) students that are participating in the 2017 Solar Decathlon China competition. The project was formed through a memorandum of understanding among the U.S. Department of Energy, the National Energy Administration of the People’s Republic of China, and the China Overseas Development Association. The focus of the competition is to design and building energy-efficient houses that are powered by the sun. The group of 25+ students was split up into separate teams, each concentrating on an individual portion of the project. Naturally, EP is mentoring the group responsible for the MEP systems for the 2-story, single family, house. The team’s design will utilize energy efficient heating and cooling systems, appliances and electronics, while still maintaining a cost-effective design. The house will be built in the competition site in China and will be judged against other colleges from all over the world.

EP wishes the NJIT Solar Decathlon China team the best of luck in this year’s competition!
