What is Canstruction?
Canstruction is a not for profit charity, founded by the Society for Design Administration (SDA), which hosts competitions and events that create awe-inspiring, gigantic structures made entirely out of non-perishable food.
A total of 31 teams participated in the 27th Canstruction NY exhibit which was held at Brookfield Place in lower Manhattan. These 31 structures were on display to the public for 2 weeks.
This was EP’s first time participating in Canstruction and definitely not our last. Inspired by the 50th anniversary of the Saturn V rocket launch, our structure certainly soared as our first build.
The EP Canstruction team consisted of 6 employees who brainstormed, practiced and perfected the structure for months leading up to build night.
All teams who participate build their structures on site all within one night!
Title:
Houston: We have a hunger problem…
Can count:
962 cans total donated to City Harvest by EP.
880 cans total made up the structure.

This year, the structures were comprised of over 107,000 non-perishable food items containing over 65,000 pounds of food which we’re donated to City Harvest for the holiday season.
It’s was certainly a fun and creative event which benefited many hungry New Yorkers. We look forward to participating again next year.
Be sure to look out for what EP builds in 2020!
