Working alongside Fahey Design-Build, EP Engineering recently designed a new retail location for one of New York City’s premier artisanal coffee shops, Bluestone Lane. We have designed five locations, spanning from New York City, to Westchester, NY, to Washington D.C.
The founders of Bluestone Lane pride themselves on “changing people’s perceptions of coffee by creating environments where customers are immersed in the experience…” Building such aesthetically-captivating spaces requires vast coordination between the project’s MEP engineer and architect. The predominant challenge of this MEP design was to meet Bluestone Lane’s aesthetic expectations as portrayed by Fahey Design-Build while maintaining code compliance as well as industry standard design practices.
Throughout the project’s design phase, we met often with Fahey Design-Build and Bluestone Lane to ensure that our proposed MEP design would meet Bluestone Lane’s aesthetic expectations. During construction, we performed detailed inspections of field work to ensure that the content of our contract drawings was accurately reflected in field. Today, we are glad to announce that we’ve met our goal of providing Bluestone Lane with fully-functional and code-complaint MEP systems without sacrificing the space’s aesthetics.
