John F. Kennedy International Airport is the busiest international air passenger gateway into the United States, handling 56,827,154 passengers in 2015. EP Engineering was hired to conduct a full HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Sprinkler and Fire Alarm assessment across the entire area of both Terminal 1 and Terminal 5.
Challenges:
- Surveys had to happen in small batches due to tight security.
- Systems were observed amidst crowds in airport since there was no down time to survey.
- Presenting tremendous amounts of data in a clear and concise manner.
Achievements:
- All surveys were performed within budget due to team’s willingness to stay late and come early.
- Streamlined data into an easy to follow matrix which assigned priority rankings to maintenance items.
- Provided a comprehensive maintenance plan for all required repairs, organizing all tasks between priority rankings.
