Engineering challenges
- Design of sprinkler distribution around existing conditions (low ceilings, beams, etc.)
- Layout of piping and heads as to limit interruption of occupied areas during construction.
Engineering outcomes
- Detail surveying of existing ceilings, beams and soffits ensured that the maximum possible ceiling heights were maintained and the minimum quantity of sprinkler heads were provided.
- Use of extended coverage sidewall heads consolidated a majority of the sprinkler work to the corridors and common areas, limiting the work required in the bedrooms.
