With 2021 in the rear-view mirror, it’s time to start putting some important dates on your 2022 calendar and beyond.
January 4, 2022 & January 10, 2022:
The NYC Department of Environmental Protection is in the process of updating the Unified Stormwater Rules which will impact storm water detention and retention system design in the near future. On January 4th the DEP will be holding an informational briefing and on January 10th they will be opening for public comment on the guidelines.

June 30, 2022:
Local Law 152 requires periodic inspection of gas piping systems. Buildings within Community Districts 1,3 and 10 are required to submit the required documentation of inspection by June 30, 2022. November 7, 2022:
Local Law 126 of 2021 comes into effect amending the NYC Building, Plumbing, Mechanical and Fuel Gas codes. These changes bring the NYC Code up to date with more modern editions of the International Codes. NYC’s Ban on Natural Gas and other combustion fuels takes effect for buildings less than seven stories at the end over 2023. We will have future articles on the best ways for owners and developers to adapt to these new rules coming later this year.
