Queens Library Bellerose

Queens Library completed a full renovation of their 7,500 square foot Bellerose branch, which is one of the largest in the system. EP Engineering provided full MEP design services for the renovation, which included cosmetic and layout upgrades to incorporate a new Teen Area, computer clusters and book drop sorting system.

Engineering challenges

  • Working within a tight budget.

Engineering outcomes

  • Existing supply ductwork and roof penetrations were re-used to stay within budget, while still providing new HVAC systems that would meet the cooling loads and code required ventilation requirements.
  • Attendance are periodic site meetings and quick turnaround of shop drawings to ensure construction remained on schedule and the library was reopened to the public on time.
  • Existing electrical panels were reused to further limit construction costs.
