SINY Dermatology Medical and Cosmetic Dermatology Practice

The Skin Institute of New York (SINY) is a medical and cosmetic dermatology practice with five locations in New York. This project was a complete renovation of the Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing systems in the 1,200 square feet. Park Slope location, at 76 7th Ave, Brooklyn, NY. EP worked closely with Heitler Houstoun Architects and the client to ensure that all systems were brought up to code without causing unnecessary modifications to the building.

Engineering challenges

  • Design of new louvers to be installed in place of existing through-wall AC units to comply with landmarks and allow for code required ventilation for the space.
  • Coordination of new rooftop condenser to be installed above the existing single-story residential garage without triggering line-of-sight objection from landmarks.

Engineering outcomes

  • Working with the client and architect to manage the extent of the additional Architectural and MEP systems, without requiring any service upgrades.
