Women in Need : Win

In recent years, homelessness in New York City has been on the rise.  In the first months of 2019 alone, hundreds of thousands sought shelter in New York City. Among them is a staggering amount of homeless mothers and their children; in fact, 70% of NYC’s homeless are families with children. For more than 35 years, Win has provided safe housing, critical services, and ground-breaking programs to help homeless women and their children rebuild their lives. After learning about Win, EP pledged to do what we can under our Three 3’s pledge.

One of the many programs that Win runs is Camp Win, which is a special day camp service for homeless children while on school breaks. EP decided to host one of the camp days which involved providing lunch and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math) activities for a fun day of learning. Eight EP volunteers were involved in the day and both adults and kids got creative, building different kinds of animals and objects with the STEM toy sets. A pizza party was planned for lunch and the day ended with cupcakes for all.

It was a rewarding experience to take the day to interact with a wonderful group of kids and a great way to spend a day away from the office!

We hope to team up with Win again for another one of their programs in the future. We highly recommend doing your part to help make an impact on these children’s lives.
